Brand history
Founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848 by Louis Brandt; the 'Omega' name dates from an 1894 caliber. Omega is the official Olympic timekeeper and famously flight-qualified by NASA for the Apollo program (the Speedmaster Professional was worn on the lunar surface in 1969). The brand's modern reset was the introduction of the co-axial escapement (2007, designed by George Daniels), which extended service intervals dramatically and re-established Omega as a chronometric peer of its competitors.
