Brand history

Founded by the pilot and flight-instructor Helmut Sinn in Frankfurt am Main as a maker of pilot and navigation chronographs; sold to Lothar Schmidt in 1994, who introduced the Ar-dehumidification, tegimented case-hardening, and submarine-steel technologies the brand is now known for.

Founded 1961 in Frankfurt am Main by the pilot and flight-instructor Helmut Sinn as a maker of pilot and navigation chronographs for the Bundeswehr and adjacent customers. Sold to Lothar Schmidt in 1994; the modern brand is defined by its engineering vocabulary. Ar-dehumidification (a captive desiccating capsule that keeps the case dry through temperature swings), tegimented case-hardening, and patented submarine-steel cases. The U-series divers and the EZM tactical line are the brand’s most-distinctive references; the 556 and 856 lines anchor the everyday-wear catalog.
