Black Forest watches
References in the Grail Atlas catalog made in the Black Forest.
The Black Forest (Schwarzwald) in Baden-Württemberg has a watchmaking tradition dating to the 17th century and is the home of Junghans, whose Max Bill references (designed by the Swiss architect and former Bauhaus student Max Bill) are among the most influential minimalist watch designs of the 20th century. Junghans also developed the MEGA radio-controlled movement and the Mega Solar line. The Max Bill Automatic and Chronoscope in the catalog are priced in the mid-enthusiast tier and collected primarily for their adherence to Bauhaus design principles: no unnecessary element, legibility as the primary visual criterion.
