What it is

Laurent Ferrier launched his eponymous brand in Geneva in 2010 after a career at Patek Philippe spanning three decades, including work on the 10-day tourbillon. The LF 116.01 calibre uses a double direct impulse escapement derived from the natural escapement concept, where the balance wheel receives impulse directly on both swings rather than only one. The result is higher efficiency and lower friction than a Swiss lever escapement.

Ferrier's brand has produced roughly 200 to 300 watches per year since launch, all from the Geneva atelier. The Classic Origin is the entry reference in the lineup, which at Laurent Ferrier's level means 40mm, in-house movement, and impeccable finishing.

Laurent Ferrier produces very few watches.
