The Globemaster is Omega's first METAS-certified Master Chronometer, holding the 8901 movement to a stricter accuracy and magnetic resistance standard than COSC alone. At 39mm in steel with a pie-pan dial and ceramic bezel ringed by 12 stars, it revives the original 1952 Constellation's DNA without nostalgia-washing the spec sheet. Collectors who want a dress watch with genuinely modern movement credentials, not just marketing copy, have few alternatives at this price point.
Omega launched the Globemaster in 2015 as a direct centennial tribute to the original Constellation, introducing METAS certification simultaneously across the line. The 130.30.39.21.02.001 houses the caliber 8901, a Co-Axial Master Chronometer rated to +0/-2 seconds per day and resistant to magnetic fields exceeding 15,000 gauss. The ceramic bezel and Meridian bracelet were new at launch; prior Constellation generations used steel bezels and the older Milanese or multi-link bracelets.
An annual calendar variant (ref. 130.30.39.22.02.001) followed, sharing the same case and dial architecture but with the caliber 8902. No significant movement revision has occurred since launch, which speaks to the 8901 platform's maturity.
The Meridian bracelet's brushed center links accumulate scratching at the chamfered edges faster than most buyers expect; examine the bracelet under good light before purchase because refinishing removes metal and can alter proportions over time. The ceramic bezel is chip-resistant but not chip-proof, so inspect the star indices closely, particularly at the 6 and 12 positions where accidental contact is most common. The pie-pan dial's stepped surface shows fingerprints and smudges acutely; look for original lacquer condition rather than evidence of cleaning attempts.
Confirm the pusher at 8 o'clock (the METAS certification crown) moves smoothly without sticking, as service records on pre-owned examples are inconsistent. Ask for Omega documentation verifying METAS certification if you plan to use that status as part of your purchase rationale.
