PRX

Which ref to buy
The PRX is the value benchmark for integrated bracelet watches. The design is a direct descendant of the original 1978 PRX and sits in the same aesthetic territory as the Royal Oak and Laureato at a fraction of the price. The Powermatic 80 movement is the practical case for it.

PRX Powermatic 80 -- the best integrated bracelet watch under $1,000 and possibly the best watch value in production.
- The case for it:
- ETA C07.111 (80-hour power reserve automatic), 40mm, integrated bracelet, integrated case design. The PRX Powermatic 80 is the gateway watch for integrated bracelet collectors. The design language is unimpeachable, the movement has 80 hours of power reserve, and the bracelet quality is exceptional for the price. The only honest criticism is that it does not hold secondary value -- but at this price, you are buying it to wear, not to trade.
- Consider instead if:
- The PRX is a Swiss Made watch with a ETA base movement, not an in-house caliber. Buyers who need the prestige of a manufacture movement should move up the ladder.

PRX 35 Powermatic 80 -- the correct size for smaller wrists.
- The case for it:
- Same architecture as the 40mm in a 35mm case. The correct PRX for wrists under 16cm where the 40mm reads oversized. Carries every advantage of the larger reference.
- Consider instead if:
- The 40mm is the dominant secondary market size and the configuration most often discussed in collector communities. If size is ambiguous, try both on.

PRX Automatic Chronograph -- adds timing function; a compelling value at the price.
- The case for it:
- Valjoux 7753-based automatic chronograph, 42mm. The PRX Chronograph is the value chronograph in an integrated bracelet format. Few competitors at the price point offer automatic chronograph with integrated bracelet construction.
- Consider instead if:
- At 42mm the case is larger than the standard PRX. The chronograph sub-dials add visual complexity to the clean PRX dial language. Choose based on whether you actually need to time things.
