Legacy Machine
MB&F’s round-cased branch, launched 2011 with the Legacy Machine No. 1 (LM101), the brand’s first watch in a traditional silhouette. The signature is a suspended balance wheel held above the dial on a tall arched bridge, with the time displayed on a separate off-center sub-dial. The Legacy Machine line carries the same hand-finishing standards as the Horological Machine line but in a vocabulary closer to a 19th-century pocket watch than to the brand’s sculptural sport pieces.

Which ref to buy
MB&F (Maximilian Büsser & Friends) builds horological machines that deliberately defy convention. The Legacy Machine series is the most classical-facing MB&F line -- flying balance wheel suspended above the dial, traditional hand-wound movements, domed crystals. The LM addresses collectors who find other MB&F designs too avant-garde.

Legacy Machine 101 -- the most accessible Legacy Machine and the correct entry point for the collection.
- The case for it:
- Manually wound movement with a large, suspended balance wheel floating above the dial level. The LM 101 distills the Legacy Machine concept to its essentials: the suspended balance wheel is the visual centerpiece, the dial is clean, and the case is restrained relative to other MB&F pieces. Production quantities are limited. Strong secondary demand with consistent appreciation since introduction.
- Consider instead if:
- MB&F secondary pricing has been volatile. The LM101 has shown appreciation but the brand is newer and less predictable than Geneva manufacture peers.

Legacy Machine Sequential EVO -- the complex Legacy Machine with a dual independent flyback chronograph.
- The case for it:
- Two independent flyback chronographs controlled by a split-seconds mechanism, in the Legacy Machine case. A legitimate double-chronograph complication in an MB&F aesthetic. The Sequential EVO is the technically most ambitious LM to date.
- Consider instead if:
- The complexity and price are significant. The LM 101 is the more focused statement. Buy the Sequential EVO if the double-chronograph complication is specifically the draw.

Legacy Machine Flying T -- the tourbillon Legacy Machine with a large, conical display.
- The case for it:
- Flying tourbillon, conical dial architecture, traditionally MB&F asymmetric case. The Flying T shows time on a rotating disc around a vertical conical structure. A unique display that is unmistakably MB&F while remaining legible.
- Consider instead if:
- The time display requires learning. The LM 101's time display is more immediately intuitive. Choose the Flying T for the visual theatrics, not for daily practical use.
