Shinshu (Nagano) watches

The Shinshu Watch Studio in Shiojiri, Nagano Prefecture, is Grand Seiko's mountain manufacture. The studio produces the Spring Drive movement, a hybrid that uses a mechanical mainspring but replaces the lever escapement with a quartz oscillator for regulation, achieving accuracy of ±1 second per day, and most of Grand Seiko's mechanical calibers. The Snowflake (SBGA211) was made here; the studio's dials often reference the surrounding highland landscape in their textures and colors. The 9 catalog references from this studio include the SBGA211, SBGA413, and several Heritage mechanical references.
