The Tank Cintrée is the rarest of the Tank family, and the Privé platinum edition is the rarest expression of the Cintrée. The case curves along the wrist in a way no other watch does, making it feel less like you are wearing a watch and more like the watch was made for your arm specifically. Cartier produced this reference only in 2021 under the Privé program, which means it is gone.
The Tank Cintrée dates to 1921, designed as a more refined and elongated evolution of the original 1917 Tank. The curved case was an engineering statement: it required the dial, movement, and case to all conform to a gentle arc, which is harder to execute well than it looks. Cartier produced the Cintrée on and off throughout the twentieth century, and it spent decades as a forgotten oddity before collectors began to recognize how unusual it really is.
The Privé program, launched in the 1990s, was Cartier's vehicle for limited-edition revivals of these archival forms, typically in precious metal and small runs. The WGTA0095 continues that tradition, using the hand-wound 9780 MC caliber developed specifically for the Privé line.
The elongated platinum case is thin and curved, which means any significant impact lands badly. Check the case edges for dents and the case back for scratches from prior wearers who did not know what they had. The lugs on the Cintrée are a known vulnerability because of their length.
The 9780 MC is a Cartier manufacture caliber and is not serviced by independent watchmakers with any reliability; only Cartier-authorized service centers should touch it. Provenance matters more than usual here given the limited 2021 production run, so request box and papers and verify the reference number against the documentation before purchasing.
Privé editions in platinum trade at a meaningful premium over the standard Cartier catalog because production is genuinely limited and the buyer pool is small but serious. The Cintrée form has been appreciating as more collectors discover how rare it is relative to other Tank references. Secondary market supply is thin, and sellers know it, so patience is rewarded more than urgency here.
The 9780 MC is a hand-wound caliber built by Cartier for the Privé line, so service must go through Cartier or an authorized partner. Cartier's service intervals are typically four to five years, and a full service on a platinum Privé piece is not inexpensive. Budget for it and do not skip it, because the 9780 MC runs dry quickly without proper lubrication.
Community + OSINT signals haven’t landed for this reference yet. We don’t publish a rating against zero signal — the number would mean nothing. Editorial body + caliber + market value still surface above; ratings appear once the signal corpus does.
The wrist-conforming arch of the Tank Cintree case is the single authentication point; any flat-looking case is not a genuine Cintree.
