Kari Voutilainen’s flagship hand-wound time-only line: the Cal. 28 movement (named for its 28-tooth direct-impulse escapement) introduced the brand’s in-house movement architecture. The 38.5mm case is offered in white, rose, yellow gold, and platinum; dial vocabulary runs from grand-feu enamel to guilloché.

Kari Voutilainen is among the five or six most respected watchmakers working today. He makes fewer than 50 watches per year from his atelier in Môtiers. Secondary demand from collectors far exceeds supply; waiting lists are multi-year.

- The Engraved variant adds hand-engraving to the case middle and movement components. The engraving is done in-house and transforms an already exceptional watch into a unique object. Extremely limited production.
- Consider instead if:
- The standard Vingt-8 is itself extraordinary -- the engraving adds an art layer rather than a horological one. Buy the Engraved only if the artistic dimension specifically matters to you.
