The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang | family history

The Spirit of Big Bang takes the Big Bang's material vocabulary and in-house movement and reshapes the case into a tonneau geometry. The result is more architectural than the round Big Bang and more legible as a design statement. The UNICO flyback chronograph is the movement of choice in most Spirit references.

Year introduced: 20141 reference

A tonneau-shaped variant of the Big Bang platform, first introduced in 2014. The angular case and barrel geometry read as more architectural than the round Big Bang. Houses the in-house UNICO flyback chronograph.

2014 · Launch and tonneau architecture

Hublot introduced the Spirit of Big Bang as a geometric alternative within the Big Bang platform. The tonneau case shape is a deliberate departure from the Big Bang's round form, and the barrel geometry gives the Spirit a more-architectural presence. Case materials follow the Big Bang's palette: titanium, carbon fiber, ceramic, king gold.

2014-present · UNICO flyback chronograph

The primary Spirit references carry the HUB1242 UNICO flyback chronograph, an in-house caliber developed by Hublot. The UNICO is a column-wheel flyback with a horizontal clutch, visible through the skeletonized dial. In the Spirit's tonneau case, the movement architecture and the case architecture read as a unified object.
