The Citizen Promaster Land | family history
The Promaster Land is Citizen's outdoor and field-watch Promaster branch. Titanium cases, 100m or better water resistance, rotating bezels in earth tones or DLC finishes, and Eco-Drive solar charging. The BN5011 is the catalog anchor: a no-compromise field watch at sub-$400 pricing.
Citizen’s outdoor Promaster branch: titanium, 100m+ WR, Eco-Drive solar, and rotating bezels in earth-toned or DLC finishes. Targets the hiker and field-watch audience as a battery-free sports watch.
1989-2000s · Early Promaster Land
Early Promaster Land references shared the line's professional-tool brief in an outdoor and hiking context: 100m WR, screwdown crowns, and field-watch dial layouts. These were battery-powered in early production and converted to Eco-Drive as the technology matured. Not currently in the Grail Atlas catalog.

2010-present · BN5011 and current Land line
The current Promaster Land runs Eco-Drive exclusively. The BN5011 is the reference: a 41mm titanium case with a khaki-green rotating bezel, 100m WR, and Eco-Drive E168. DLC variants add scratch resistance for heavier use. The field-watch aesthetic is utilitarian without being austere.
How to read this family
Two honest questions for any Promaster Land buyer:
- Promaster Land vs. G-Shock for outdoor use? A G-Shock is more impact-resistant and more water resistant; the Promaster Land is a more conventional watch aesthetic in titanium. For serious outdoor use where impacts are expected, the G-Shock is the more practical tool. For a field watch that can take some abuse but still looks like a watch, the Promaster Land.
- DLC bezel or standard? DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating adds meaningful scratch resistance to the bezel insert at a modest price premium. For anyone who will actually wear this in rough conditions, the DLC is worth it. For a desk-to-field occasional wearer, the standard aluminum is fine.
