Aquatimer
IWC’s dive line, born in 1967 with the original Aquatimer 812 (the first IWC with a rotating inner diver bezel). The 2014-onwards generation introduced the SafeDive bidirectional inner/outer bezel system; the Automatic 2000 (IW358002, 46mm titanium, cal. 80110) sits at the family’s deep-rated end with 2,000m water resistance.

Which ref to buy
The Aquatimer uses an unusual external rotating bezel mechanism -- a second crown at 10 o'clock operates the bezel, keeping the diver's bezel external but protecting it from accidental rotation. 2000m water resistance on the Automatic 2000. A serious dive watch with a distinguishing mechanism that most competitors don't bother with.

IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000 -- 2000m dive watch with external rotating bezel controlled by a crown, not your fingers.
- The case for it:
- The external rotating bezel operated by the 10 o'clock crown is IWC's engineering answer to the accidental-bezel-rotation problem. 2000m WR is genuine -- this is a saturation diver's specification. The dial is bold and legible. It is a legitimate professional dive instrument with a mechanism that makes competitors look conventional.
- Consider instead if:
- The 44mm case is large and the cushion profile adds to the bulk. The internal bezel mechanism adds complexity that requires service attention over time. Buyers who want a practical daily dive watch without the service overhead should consider the Longines HydroConquest.
