The JLC 899 is the ultra-thin manual-wind movement in the Reverso Classique, measuring only 3.3 mm in height. It was engineered for the reversible case of the Reverso and must survive the mechanical shock of flipping the case without losing regulation. The movement fits entirely within the shallow depth available after the flip mechanism and the caseback are accounted for.

Known service issues
- Extreme thinness means the mainspring arbor can develop play if wound past the point of full tension; avoid over-winding
- Service requires JLC or authorized partner technicians who have the flipping-case jig
- The 899 is thin enough that the mainspring barrel has limited depth; winding efficiency matters more than on thicker calibers. Use the crown fully to top up the power reserve rather than relying on partial winds
- The limited barrel depth means the power reserve drops more noticeably in the last quarter; if the watch is stopping early, service is overdue
