Brand history

Founded in 1995 by Roger Dubuis and Carlos Dias in Geneva. The Maison is based in Plan-les-Ouates and is one of the few remaining holders of the Geneva Seal (Poinçon de Genève) for its movements.

Founded 1995 in Geneva by watchmaker Roger Dubuis (b. 1938) and his business partner Carlos Dias. Dubuis had spent the preceding decades as a watchmaker for various Geneva houses before building his own movements and cases, which were assembled entirely in-house from the beginning, one of the few start-up brands to achieve genuine manufacture status at launch. The Excalibur (1999) is the brand's defining line: a round case with the distinctive star-shaped skeleton bridges visible through the open-worked dial. The Velvet (women's) and Excalibur Aventador S (Lamborghini co-branded) complete the portfolio. Richemont acquired the brand in 2008. The honest assessment: Roger Dubuis is heavily positioned in the racing-and-sports-car market, with a visual language that prioritizes boldness over restraint; the movements are genuine haute-horlogerie quality (Geneva Seal on the top pieces) but the buyer is choosing a brand statement as much as a horological argument.
